Car Strikes, Injures Midlands Student

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – A walk home from school sends one Midlands student to the hospital. That’s according to Columbia Police. Officers say the child was hit by a car Tuesday afternoon. It happened at the intersection of Two Notch Road and Germany Street. “It doesn’t appear at this time that alcohol or some other impairment was involved. The investigation is continuing. We were told by medical staff that the child was in stable condition. This investigation continues. We are trying to determine exactly what happened,” says spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons. Richland One School District officials are not releasing the victim’s name, but they did say he’s a sixth grader at W.A. Perry Middle School.
