Gamecocks Looking To Go Undefeated At Home

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — The 8th (BCS) ranked Gamecocks are coming off their bye week and prepare to play Arkansas this Saturday at Williams-Brice. Head football coach Steve Spurrier spoke to the media yesterday at his weekly press conference, here are some of the things he had to say. Spurrier talked about coming off the by week: “It’s good to be back after a week off. I think our players and team enjoyed the week off. I think we needed it. We’ve had a bunch of nagging injuries that hopefully will be healed up and ready to play this Saturday at noon when Arkansas comes in.” Spurrier talked about finishing the season: “We’re looking forward to the rest of the year. We’re going to see if we can start playing a little bit better on offense, defense, special teams, all of it. We’ll see if we can finish on a strong positive note. We’ve got a very good season going and we’re going to try to finish it.” Spurrier talked about playing Arkansas: “They’ll come in here ready to play us. They’ve certainly played us very well the last three or four years. We need to have a good game if we’re going to beat these guys. We’re looking forward to it. I know the fans are ready.” Spurrier and the team is looking to go undefeated at home: “We’ve still got a chance to win them all at home if we can play well these last two games. That is something that hasn’t happened in 25 years and hasn’t happened since we joined the SEC. We’ll see if we can do that.” Spurrier talked about Jadeveon Clowney’s health: “He’s got something like D.J. Swearinger had last year. When the season is over, there is a surgery they can do. It’s not painful right now. He doesn’t practice all that much, he goes about half the time. He’s okay on Saturdays though, he’s ready to go.”
