Bank Robbery: 1 Dead, 3 Captured, No Injuries

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Four masked gunman, one of whom is dead and the other three suspects in jail converged on a local bank , guns blazing. They robbed it, were chased by authorities, exchanged gunfire with police during the chase and left in their path extreme violence, fear and near-death experiences. It happened around 10:00 Friday morning at the Wells Fargo branch on Two Notch Road in Columbia. Authorities say the group entered the building firing shots into the ceiling, floors and windows. They left firing shots and continued to shoot at police during a high speed chase in the Fontaine, Parklane and Two Notch Roads area. One suspect was shot and killed by police; the other three were later captured and are in police custody. Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said no one else was hurt during the incident; however, several customers say they were terrified. Investigators are looking into another bank robbery that occurred Thursday night to see if the two incidents are connected.
