1 killed, 3 arrested after Columbia bank robbery

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say one suspect was killed and three others arrested after robbing a Columbia bank, firing shots into the ceiling, floors and windows.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said no one else was hurt during the Friday morning robbery at a Wells Fargo bank in the northeastern suburbs.

Lott says a deputy and a Columbia police officer were in the bank parking lot less than a minute after an alarm was triggered. He said four men in masks and hoods came out of the bank firing guns.

Authorities say the suspects kept firing during a short chase, then ran from the car. Lott says one suspect was killed when he threatened to kill officers and pulled out a gun.

Investigators say the other three suspects were arrested after a manhunt.
