Upstate Store Evacuated During Black Friday Bomb Threat
GREENWOOD, S.C. (AP) _ A store in Greenwood was evacuated for about an hour during holiday shopping because of a telephoned threat. The Wal-Mart was evacuated around 7:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day after the call came in to dispatchers. It reopened about an hour later. Wal-Mart spokeswoman Kayla Whaling says the store was evacuated as a precaution while sheriff’s deputies checked the building. Maj. William Kenny says officers were searching for a device. About a dozen officers were involved. There was no word on whether they found anything suspicious. No one was hurt.
