Judge: Not enough Evidence for SC Murder Charge

ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) _ A judge says there isn’t enough evidence to charge a woman with murder in the stabbing death of a Rock Hill man. The Herald of Rock Hill reports a magistrate said there was probable cause to charge 40-year-old Alicia Johnson with voluntary manslaughter instead. Johnson was arrested in September in the death of 54-year-old Anthony Davis. Authorities said she killed Davis with a pair of scissors, then left his nude, bloodied body in the breezeway of an apartment. Johnson’s attorney says she acted in self-defense. Police and prosecutors have said Davis demanded sexual favors in return for drugs, then attacked Johnson when she stalled. Prosecutors could still ask a grand jury to consider a murder indictment against Johnson, who is being held without bond.
