Dutch Fork Plays For First Football Title

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Dutch Fork football hired a man with plenty of state championship experience to get them to their first ever state title game. It took him as long as he thought it would. In his third year at Dutch Fork, the Silver Foxes will play for their first ever championship Saturday at 3 p.m. against Gaffney at Williams-Brice Stadium. Knotts coached in ten North Carolina state championship games prior to coming to Dutch Fork. “We spotlighted these sophomores when I arrived here three years ago,” Knotts said earlier this week. “We said to them, ‘This has got to be our state championship year.'” Dutch Fork and Gaffney for the AAAA Division I title is the middle game of a championship tripleheader Saturday at Williams-Brice. Northwestern and Greenwood open the day at noon in the AAAA Division II title game. Steve Taneyhill and Union play Hartsville for the AAA title in the nightcap.
