SC woman gets 15 years in child’s death
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A judge in Charleston has sentenced a woman to 15 years in prison for her part in the death of a child whose body was found encased in concrete.
Circuit Judge Markley Dennis sentenced 27-year-old Grace Trotman on Tuesday in the death of 2-year-old Rodricus Williams.
A Berkeley County jury earlier found Trotman’s former boyfriend, Roger Anthony Williams, guilty of homicide by child abuse. He admitted to putting his son into a barrel after he died in June 2010, filling it with concrete and taking it from Summerville to Orangeburg County.
But Williams denied killing the boy, blaming Trotman for the death. Trotman pleaded guilty earlier this year to homicide by child abuse and desecration of human remains and agreed to testify for prosecutors.
