COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Frank Martin and the Gamecocks return to action Wednesday night against Appalachian State. The team had been removed from game action for almost two weeks as the players finished up final exams. “Exam week is a difficult week for practices,” said Martin. “The guys are stressed out and we emphasize academics in what we do. Exam week is just a stressful week.” Martin is hoping the team can start back up where they left off. USC was riding a two-game skid with losses to St. John’s and Clemson before winning their last game against Jacksonville 91-74. “After that week with St. John’s and Clemson, I probably was ready to go on vacation to be honest with you,” said Martin. “Disappear in the Caribbean somewhere and become a bartender somewhere. But after the way we played against Jacksonville, I would have liked to play the same day.” The men’s team will be the first game of a double-header Wednesday night. Their game will be followed by the women’s game, a top-25 matchup between no. 1 Stanford and no. 21 South Carolina. Tip-off for the USC-Appalachian State game is set for 5:00pm, followed by the women’s game at 7:30pm.
