Sumter Man Arrested for Drugs While out on Bond

SUMTER, S.C. (WOLO) – A follow-up investigation to a recent shooting incident in Sumter leads to drug charges. That’s according to police. Officers say they were executing a search warrant at a home on Harris Street Monday to look for a weapon in connection to that incident. That’s when they confiscated a pound of marijuana. Officers also reported finding more than $7,000 in cash and other items related to illegal drug sales. It led to the arrests of 41-year-old Kelvin Kennedy and 38-year-old Tonya Peterson. Kennedy was already out of jail on bond for attempted murder. He allegedly shot a 45-year-old man in the leg last week at a home in the 200 block of Brooklyn Street.
