277 Open Following Fatal Accident

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Both the inbound and outbound lanes of 277 are closed after a fiery crash this morning. The accident happened around 10:15 this morning near the Harden Street extension and Sunset Drive. Columbia Fire officials say the vehicle involved was traveling inbound on 277. According to the Columbia Police Department the driver, who has not been identified, hit a guardrail and their vehicle burst into flames. We’re told both civilians and emergency tried to get the driver out of the car, but it was too late. The driver died at the scene, say officials.
