Sheriff: “We are doing an extensive, thorough investigation.”

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster says an extensive and thorough investigation is underway after a bomb threat caused Newberry High School to be evacuated for several hours Monday. Foster says the bomb threat was made around 10:45 Monday morning. Bomb-sniffing dogs were also brought to the school to search the area. The school was later determined safe for students to go back in around 2:00 o’clock Monday afternoon. ABC Columbia spoke with parents on scene while they waited for their children. “I didn’t wake up Monday morning just to hear that a bomb threat was at my child’s school. It scared me so bad because I never had to endure anything like this before. But I done seen other people on TV having to go through this, losing their kids and now they won’t let us get our kids. I don’t understand why we can’t have our kids,” says Treeka Douglas, Newberry High School parent Foster says no packages were found and no injuries were reported.
