Bieber Causes Stir at Anne Frank Museum

Amsterdam, The Netherlands (CNN)–Pop star Justin Bieber hopes holocaust victim Anne Frank would have been a devoted fan, or “Belieber”…had she not died in a Nazi concentration camp in 1945. That’s what the Bieb wrote in a guest book after a tour of the Anne Frank house in Amsterdam Friday. Adolescent and teen girls obsessed with the 19-year-old Canadian singer are known as “Beliebers.” Bieber is in the middle of a European tour. He stopped by the Anne Frank House between his Belgium concert and a Saturday performance in the Netherlands. Visitors to the Anne Frank Facebook page were upset by his comments. They called Bieber a number of things including “self-serving”an “idiot”and “full of himself”. Anne Frank was 13 when she and her family hid out in a secret annex of their house to escape the German round-up of Jews in Holland in 1942. They almost made it but were discovered and sent to concentration camps in 1944. During her time in hiding Anne wrote a diary detailing her experience. She died in a concentration camp in march of 1945.
