Commencement Ceremonies Take Center Stage

(WOLO) COLUMBIA,S.C.,– Thousands of families gathered at USC to watch their loved ones walk the carpet to receive their degrees during commencement exercises Saturday. Hootie and the Blowfish lead singer, and South Carolina Native, Darius Rucker gave the commencement address for this year’s graduation. During his speech he challenged the graduating class to ” find something that makes you want to give until it hurts.” Rucker received an honorary degree during the ceremony. Down the street, Benedict Tigers could be heard roaring over their success during commencement ceremonies there. This year, Executive Director of American Baptist Home Mission Society, Dr. Aisand Wright- Riggins, III gave the keynote address. This was the 143rd commencement for the Historical Black College.
