Mariners Put USC’s Smoak On Disabled List

(WOLO) — Sunday the Seattle Mariners put former Gamecock slugger Justin Smoak on the 15-day disabled list with an oblique injury. The move is retroactive to May 30. Smoak left May 25th’s game vs. Texas with a right oblique strain. He last appeared in a game as a pinch hitter on May 29th at San Diego. The first baseman is hitting .240 this season with 3 home runs, 7 doubles and 8 RBI. Smoak is USC’s career home run leader. The switch-hitter from the Lowcountry hit 62 home runs from 2006-2008. That’s 14 more long balls than the previous Gamecock home run king, Hank Small (1972-75).
