Columbia zoo Tuesdays deal benefits food bank

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Weekday visitors to the Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens in Columbia can get a deal on admission this summer and help people in need.

Starting Tuesday, two people can visit Riverbanks for the price of one with a donation of two non-perishable food items.

The deal called Toucan Tuesdays is in its fourth year. Last year, Riverbanks president Satch Krantz says the driver collected more than 4,200 pounds of food for Harvest Hope.

There are also Tuesday deals on concessions and items including misting fans.

There are some new animals currently on exhibit at Riverbanks, including an 8-month-old koala joey.
