Storm knocks down tree, blocking I-26 near Bowman
BOWMAN, S.C. (AP) — A storm that prompted a tornado warning in Orangeburg and Dorchester counties also stopped traffic for a time on eastbound Interstate 26.
State troopers say the storm knocked a tree down on I-26 east near Bowman just past the Interstate 95 interchange, entirely blocking that side of the road around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday. The road was reopened a few hours later.
Emergency officials say strong winds from that storm also knocked down dozens of trees in Orangeburg County. A photo from a reporter at WIS-TV showed a large chicken coop was knocked over on a farm. No injuries were reported.
There were no reports of a tornado touching the ground from the storm.
