Gamecocks Fall to UNC, Fans React

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Tuesday afternoon the noise inside the Carolina Ale House went from cheers to dismay. Gamecock fans packed the upstairs of the restaurant to watch the Gamecocks take on the North Carolina Tar Heels. “Rooting the Gamecocks, sitting here at the Ale House and taking in all the fun,” says Deane Pennington, Gamecock fan. Fans were hoping for a victory. “The Gamecocks are my life almost, I mean this is just too much. We love our Cocks, Go Cocks!,” says Herman Lawrence, Gamecock fan. But, in the bottom of the sixth a walk-in run made fans worry. “That was very disappointing, I was hoping that wouldn’t happen, but I mean it is what it is and we’re only down by a run. We can bring it back, we have plenty of time,” says Skylar Lawrence, Gamecock fan And the team would try, but errors were made. “Pretty stressful, little bit sloppy, but on both sides, them too, it’s not just us. It’s them as well, so hopefully we’ll pick things up,” says Skylar Lawrence That pick-up never came and the Gamecocks, along with their hopes of returning to Omaha, fell 5-4 to the North Carolina Tar Heels. “It’s just tough to take, we’re all Gamecock fans, we love them win or lose,” says Herman Lawrence
