Lexington Meth Lab
(WOLO) Columbia, SC-Officers with the Lexington County Multi-Agency Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) on Saturday, June 8th seized a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory that was being operated at a home on Sandy Springs Lane near Lexington. Officers also arrested a 32-year-old Lexington woman and 34-year-old Lexington man on charges that the man and woman operated the methamphetamine laboratory that officers found at the home. Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said NET officers arrested Shannon Lynn Jones, 32, of 1007 Hunt Road, Unit 2, Lexington, and Jessie James York, 34, of 134 Sandy Springs Lane, Lexington, on a charge of manufacturing methamphetamine. Jones and York each were being held on Monday, June 10th at the Lexington County Detention Center on a $15,000 Bond. Lexington County Sheriff‘s Department deputies went to York‘s home on Sandy Springs Lane at about 11:45 p.m. Saturday in order to respond to a call concerning a dispute between York and a neighbor, Metts said. Deputies detected a strong chemical odor emanating from York‘s residence that they recognized from training that they had received as an indication that a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory was being operated at the home. Deputies found one green bottle in a laundry basket that was stored at the bottom of steps that led to the back door of the Sandy Springs Lane home that appeared to have been used as a reaction vessel to manufacture methamphetamine, Metts said. Deputies encountered a thick cloud of fumes when they entered the residence. Deputies found a second bottle in a bathroom near the front door that actively was being used as a reaction vessel to manufacture methamphetamine. Deputies detained Jones and York outside the Sandy Springs Lane home and requested assistance from NET officers in further investigating the clandestine methamphetamine laboratory that deputies found at the residence, Metts said. NET officers later arrested Jones and York and safely disposed of the reaction vessels that were used to manufacture methamphetamine.
