Motorcyclist dies after wreck Saturday night

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — A deadly accident has claimed the life of a motorcyclist in Columbia Saturday night. The Columbia Police Department reports that a motorcyclist was driving north on Hazelwood Road in the southeast portion of Columbia when investigators say another driver, Troy Wilson, tried to make a left turn from Hazelwood Road into Burdell Drive and failed to yield the right of way. Officers say Wilson was under the influence of alcohol. The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital and later died from his injuries. Wilson faces multiple charges, including Felony DUI involved death and a Hit and Run charge involving death. Wilson also was allegedly driving under a suspended license. Columbia Police reports that this is the first alcohol-related death of 2013 in Columbia.
