Killer of NYC HS basketball star gets 25 to life

NEW YORK (AP) — The man convicted of killing a high school basketball star in her Harlem apartment building has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
Tyshawn Brockington was sentenced in Manhattan on Wednesday for the September 2011 death of 18-year-old Tayshana Murphy.
Brockington was arrested in South Carolina, 10 days after the crime.
The 23-year-old Brockington also was convicted of burglary and weapon possession.
A separate case is pending against another defendant
Murphy was a senior at Murry Bergtraum High School for Business Careers. She was a nationally ranked basketball star.
