COLUMBIA, S.C. (USC SID) — It was an offseason workout that wasn’t difficult to convince teammates to attend. USC football held a public workout Thursday night hoping to help the fight against a rare disease. The Gamecocks recently started the SEC’s first chapter of Uplifting Athletes. Thursday night’s workout was a Lift For Life event designed to help raise awareness and money for Pelizaeus Merzbacher (PMD). Walk-on redshirt freshman running back Devin Potter has a 19-year-old cousin who is battling PMD, a central nervous disorder that delays coordination, motor abilities and intellectual functions to various degrees.
