Manning man gets 4 years for rap video threat
MANNING, S.C. (AP) — A 29-year-old Manning man has been ordered to spend four years in prison for threatening a judge and a former prosecutor in a YouTube rap video.
The Item of Sumter reports (http://bit.ly/1eb3Z0M ) a jury convicted Rodregiz Cole Tuesday of intimidating a public official but found him not guilty of threatening the life of a public official.
In the video, Cole and another suspect rap, “Amy Land and Ferrell Cothran, I have your brains on the boulevard.” The two were involved as judge and prosecutor in a 2011 drug case that landed Cole in jail for 60 days.
Cole’s lawyer says he was just using a metaphor and was thankful the judge and prosecutor turned around his life.
The second suspect, 26-year-old Keith Gadson, is awaiting trial on similar charges.
