Former judge’s offices available in Orangeburg
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — A developer is trying to lease part of an Orangeburg office building with some special features put in because the previous tenant was a federal judge.
Cameron Building owner Edwin Pearlstine told The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg (http://bit.ly/15Flc0H ) that the 4,300 square feet of offices has bulletproof windows and soundproof walls.
The offices were built in 1995 as the chambers for 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Karen Williams. They were designed based on federal specifications that include a concrete wall to separate Williams’ chambers from other offices.
Pearlstine says he bought the Cameron Building in 2006, thinking the federal government would have a long-term lease. But Williams got Alzheimer’s disease and stepped down in July 2009. The federal government ended the lease shortly after.
