Gun found on 16-year-old student at Sumter High

SUMTER, S.C. (AP) âone space€one space” Police say a 16-year-old Sumter High School student has been arrested after a gun and a loaded magazine were found in a book bag. School police officers investigating an unrelated case said they got a tip the student had the gun at school Thursday. Authorities say a .45-caliber handgun was found inside the teen’s bag along with a loaded magazine. Police say the gun was stolen last week in Richland County. Investigators say the teen has been charged as a juvenile and remains behind bars awaiting a hearing. Police didn’t say why the student brought the gun to school.
