COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — “Everybody is entitled to the same things and should have the same thing,” says Bob Young of Columbia.

Young has lived with his wife in Elmwood Park for more than two decades. We stopped by to see him Tuesday afternoon after noticing a sign in his front yard. It reads, ‘Obamacare for Congress.’

He put it up after midnight, after he says he heard members of Congress were exempt from The Affordable Care Act.

“Why Congress would exempt themselves and then their staffers, just didn’t make sense,” says Young

While Young admits he is neither for nor against Obamacare, he hopes Midlands residents will think about the situation.

“Instantly for me, I was like woah… there’s the answer right there, if they’re reluctant to do it, then I’m reluctant to do it, says Young

Young is no stranger to the medical world, he’s retired from a career in Obstetrics and Gynecology and he admits our health care system has flaws.

“It’s the greatest in the world, but the expenses are astronomical and are getting worse,” says Young.

But, when it comes to The Affordable Care Act, Young is taking the ‘what’s good for the goose is good for the gander,’ approach.

“If they are going to be exempt themselves, then I want to be exempt… let’s just all get exempted,” says Young.
