VIDEO: Boyd Jokes About Heisman Campaign

CLEMSON, S.C. (WOLO) — Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd joked Tuesday that he would have appreciated a little help from the university when it comes to his race to win the Heisman Trophy.
“I would’ve liked a poster (Like the ones C.J. Spiller had) but I’ve got my own I made in my room,” said Boyd.
Clemson, like many other schools with star players, has decided not to run an official Heisman campaign.
Boyd is doing fine without the university’s backing.
On Tuesday the Clemson quarterback grabbed the top spot in the first HeismanPundit.com Heisman Straw Poll of the season released Tuesday.
Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney joked Tuesday that it was too early to know if Boyd was going to win the Heisman.
“I mean if they are going to announce the Heisman this weekend he’s got a good shot. I need to hurry up and get my tux for New York, I can’t wait… but I don’t think they’re going to do that. So like I tell our guys all the time, potential is based on what you can do. And it’s great to recognize potential, but all it means is you have the ability to do something great. Performance is based on something you actually do,” said Swinney.
