2 Columbia men dead in separate shootings

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) âone space€one space” Columbia police are investigating the deaths of two young men in separate shootings.

Three people were shot around 8:45 p.m. Friday in the 700 div of Martha Street.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts says Nathaniel McKelvin lll was pronounced dead at the scene. The 21-year-old from Columbia had multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. The two others shot in the incident are hospitalized.

The second incident happened shortly before 1 a.m. in the 2500 div of Bailey Street.

Watts says Willie Gilmore of Columbia was transported by to Palmetto Richland Memorial where he was later pronounced dead. Gilmore was also 21 years old.

No arrests have been made. Interim Columbia Police Chief Ruben Santiago encourages citizens to call the Crimestoppers at 888-CRIME-SC if they have information regarding the shootings.
