Agencies throughout SC round up prescription drugs

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) âone space€one space” Authorities around South Carolina are helping prevent prescription drug abuse by rounding up unwanted medicines. Various law enforcement agencies across the state are offering people places where they can safely dispose of expired, unused prescription drugs. The service scheduled for Saturday is free, and officers say no questions will be asked. Local agencies are partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration in the effort. Authorities say prescription drugs that sit unused in home cabinets are susceptible to misuse and abuse. Over the past five years, the DEA says Americans have turned in more than 1,000 tons of prescription medications.
