Red Ribbon Week

Columbia, SC (Governor Haley’s Office)-Today Governor Nikki Haley proclaimed next week as Red Ribbon Week.  The proclamation dates back to 1985 when people began wearing red ribbons to honor an undercover d-e-a agent who was kidnapped and tortured to death by drug traffickers in Mexico.  The proclamation urges residents to teach children that drug and alcohol abuse is dangerous and harmful to their health and future.
