Richland County deputy hurt in wreck

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A Richland County sheriff’s deputy has been hurt in a wreck as he responded to a burglary call. Officials say Deputy Robert Furgal was hurt after his patrol car ran into a tree after he lost control on a slick road last weekend. Furgal was trapped in his car and his feet were severely burned. He’s being treated at the burn center in Augusta, Ga. Sheriff Leon Lott said Frugal also suffered a fractured pelvis.
