Richland sheriff gathering gifts for seniors

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Deputies in Richland County are rounding up gifts for some seniors in need this holiday season.

This year, Sheriff Leon Lott says his office is once again putting on Project HOPE, which stands for Helping our Precious Elderly.

Starting Friday, people can stop by Lott’s headquarters to pick up an ornament with information on possible gifts for a special senior. Unwrapped gifts can be returned to a number of places around town including Pink Sorbet, the Chick-fil-A on Bush River Road and seven area Starbucks locations.

Donations will be collected and wrapped on Dec. 12 and delivered several days later.
