SC Sheriff Arrests 40 in 3-Month Anti-Drug Sweep

   SUMTER, S.C. (AP) _ The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office has wrapped up a three-month investigation into illegal drug activity with the arrests of 40 men and women.
 
   The Item of Sumter reported Tuesday (http://bit.ly/1bywC7K ) that complaints from residents in several neighborhoods prompted the actions.
 
   Sheriff Anthony Dennis says the arrests were made in raids at several locations. Dennis says the Department of Probation and Parole Service and the State Law Enforcement Division assisted.
 
   Dennis says the officers also seized more than $23,000 in marijuana and cocaine, six stolen handguns, 198 bottles of liquor, 72 cases of beer, four bottles of moonshine and more than $5,200.
 
   The sheriff says four people are still being sought.
