Traveling civil rights exhibit wrapping up SC run

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A traveling exhibit commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 1963 civil rights struggle is wrapping up its stay in Columbia. Wednesday is the last day of the exhibit, “50 Years Forward,” at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. The free exhibit portrays several key events in 1963 and takes note of the courage and sacrifice of those who took risks to force the nation to live up to its democratic ideals. Other cities included in the remembrance are Birmingham, Selma and Montgomery, Ala., Jackson, Miss., Memphis, Tenn., and Washington.
