City Officials Plan for Storm

(WOLO) COLUMBIA,S.C, — It’s not expected to hit the area until Tuesday evening into Wednesday, but city officials say they were not going to take any changes and intend decided to take precautions. Public Works, City Police and Fire and The City Manager held a round table discussion to decide how to attack the approaching ice storm before it blows in. City Manager Theresa Wilson says they are monitoring the changing weather conditions hour by hour and will make more moves as needed but wanted to make sure that all departments were on the same page when it comes to keeping the streets clear and the city safe. ” Ice is concerning because we know that in our community it’s not a regular occurrence…we will be monitoring this throughout the night and again in the morning and if there is any indication of a change we will act according and move pretty quickly.” All departments have crews on stand by. Including SCE and G who says they have 140 crews returning to South Carolina and 140 additional personnel from surrounding states – totaling 280 crews that will be in place and ready to move in the event this ice storm causes any widespread outages.
