Frank Martin Sorry for Outburst at Player

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — South Carolina head men’s basketball coach Frank Martin met with the media Friday afternoon, a day after the university suspended him for Saturday’s regular-season finale at Mississippi State. Martin said he regrets his sideline actions that earned him a one-game suspension and said he plans to work on his anger issues. “I embarrassed my family, my kids, my past current and past players, and my bosses,” Martin said. “My actions are not acceptable. I work at my problems every day. I’ve got to get better. I’m still not where I need to be.” Martin said he met with USC Athletics Director Ray Tanner and respects his decision to suspend him. Martin was caught on national television yelling obscenities at South Carolina freshman point guard Duane Notice midway though the second half of the Gamecocks’ 72-46 loss to Florida. The second-year coach said he plans to work on not using profanity. “I’ve got to learn how to manage it. I’ve stopped before and I’m going to stop again. I don’t want my child to be exposed to it, so I can’t expect other people’s children to be exposed to it.” Click on the ABC Columbia video included with this story to hear what Martin had to say Friday.
