Dutch Fork Clinches 3rd Straight State Title

COLUMBIA, S.C.(WOLO/AP) — Dutch Fork has won its third straight 4A state title Friday night at the Colonial Life Arena. Zhane Green scored 21 points and Morgan Williams added 17 to help Dutch Fork withstand a late rally by Greenwood to claim a 62-55 victory in the Class 4A state championship Friday night. The victory gives the Silver Foxes their third straight state championship, a feat last accomplished by Lower Richland from 2006-08. Greenwood (22-7) trailed by 20 points, 50-30, with just over three minutes remaining in the third quarter before they went on a 21-2 run to pull within 52-51. The Silver Foxes never lost the lead and closed it out by scoring the final six points, four by Sydney Shull and two by Green. After pulling within one, the Eagles only once had possession with a chance to take the lead. Tianna Swearinger led Greenwood with 30 points, 24 coming in the second half. Shull and Olivia Anderson added 10 apiece for Dutch Fork (20-7). Saturday‘s games: Class A girls: St. Joseph‘s vs. Latta, 11 a.m. Class A boys: C.A.
