USC No. 2 In Baseball America Rankings

DURHAM, N.C. (Baseball America) — Florida State, which remained unbeaten in weekend series after taking two of three at No. 20 Clemson, moved into the top spot of the Baseball America College Top 25 rankings for the first time since May 21, 2012. The Seminoles (19-4, 7-2 in the ACC) dropped Friday‘s series opener but swept Saturday‘s doubleheader to take the series. South Carolina (19-3) dropped to No. 2 after losing its first weekend series, dropping two of three at Kentucky, which rejoined the rankings at No. 19. Virginia remained at No. 3 for the second week in a row after going 3-1 and splitting the first two games of its series at Miami. Louisiana-Lafayette and Cal Poly rose to their highest position ever in the BA Top 25 at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. Oregon State, Vanderbilt, LSU, Cal State Fullerton and Rice round out the top 10. Among the biggest movers, of teams within the Top 25 were Ole Miss, which jumped seven spots to No. 13, and Mississippi State, which climbed five places to No. 16. Those taking the largest slides were North Carolina State, which dropped from No. 10 to No. 25 after getting swept for the second straight weekend, and North Carolina, which fell seven spots to No. 24 after dropping a home series to Georgia Tech. Entering the ranking for the first time this season were Auburn at No. 21 and Georgia Tech at No. 23. Both teams have started conference play with back-to-back series wins.
