COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — One of the original Vikings has returned. Wednesday Spring Valley High School officially introduced Dr. Jerry Brown as its new head football coach. The 63-year-old Brown started his coaching career as a 19-year-old assistant junior varsity coach when Spring Valley opened in 1970. Brown got his first head coaching job at Spring Valley in 1984. He won his first state title with the Vikings in 1988. Brown won his fifth SC state championship last season at Batesburg-Leesville. He says leaving the Panthers was tough, but returning to the school where it all began was too good an opportunity to turn down. Brown takes over a Vikings team that finished the 2013 regular season undefeated for the first time in school history. Click to watch this story from the Wednesday ABC Columbia News at 6.
