(WOLO) — Spring Valley has found a familiar face to lead its football program. For the first time in 20 years, Bob Hanna won’t be in charge of the Irmo Yellow Jackets. It was a Tuesday of change for two of the largest high school football programs in the Midlands. Tuesday night the Richland Two school board approved the return of Dr. Jerry Brown to lead the Viking program. Brown won his fifth career South Carolina High School football state championship last season at Batesburg-Leesville. He won his first title with the Vikings in 1988. Brown led Berkeley to three titles in the interim. Hanna came up one win shy of a class 4A state title three times in his 20 years in charge of Irmo. Hanna told The State newspaper Tuesday he will make almost as much money in retirement after 43 years of coaching as he would working. He plans on moving to N. Myrtle Beach.
