Lady Tigers Top Division II Rebounders

COLUMBIA, S.C. (BC SID) — For the second consecutive year, the Benedict College women’s basketball team finished the season one of the nation’s statistical leaders. Benedict led NCAA Division II in rebounding margin during the 2013-14 season, in the final statistical release by the NCAA. Benedict out-rebounded their opponents by an average of 11.4 per game. Bentley, which won the Division II national championship, was second with a rebound margin of 11.0. This year, Benedict also ranked in the top 10 in three other statistical categories. The Lady Tigers finished second in field goal percentage defense, allowing opponents to shoot 33.7 percent. Delta State was the national leader at 33.5 percent. Benedict was fifth in scoring defense, allowing just 57.3 points per game, and ninth in 3-point field goal percentage defense (25.4 percent). Benedict was the statistical champion in steals per game following the 2012-13 season.
