Mother, 9-Year-Old Son Die in Summerville Fire

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (AP) _ Authorities say a fire has killed a mother and her 9-year-old son in Summerville. Firefighters were called to the mobile home around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. Investigators say 51-year-old Sharon Zey Hodge and her son, Christian Zey, died in the blaze. Summerville police say they are still investigating the cause of the fire and autopsies were planned for Thursday on the victims. Friends of the victims say Hodge’s teenage son was able to escape the fire.
