Murphy Wins 4th Women’s City Golf Championship

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Before heading to play college golf at Auburn this fall, Kelli Murphy had some unfinished business to take care of in Columbia. Behind a stellar final round 69, Murphy rolled to a 10-shot win at the Sonic Columbia Women’s City Golf Championship at Spring Valley Country Club Thursday afternoon. It was Murphy’s fourth win at this event in the last five years. The recent Lugoff-Elgin High School grad saw her 3-year city tourney winning streak come to an end last summer when Lexington native and College of Charleston golfer Kathryn Miranda edged her out by two shots. Murphy came into Thursday’s third and final round with a 1-shot lead on Miranda. Murphy finished the tournament -2 after firing a final round 69. Miranda shot 78 Thursday and finished as the runner-up at +8. Click to watch the story from the Thursday ABC Columbia News at Six.
