Fmr. Gang Leader Tells Story, Makes Movie

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — “It’s not about your past, it’s where you’re going,” says Terry Davis, former gang leader Today, Terry Davis is a film director. But, his movie “Colors: Bangin’ in South Carolina,” set for world debut July 1, 2014 shows the dark side of his past. ‘When people say gangs are fake or whatever, it’s sad because I have friends – former friends should I say – in prison for 20 years, 15 years. I have friends that’s never coming back,” says Davis “When I was 17, I caught my first charge strong armed robbery. But, because of the hierarchy of the gang, the people under me took the charge,” says Davis. Davis says it didn’t start out violent. Instead, he says, it was a social group who defended each other as friends. But that changed. “I knew then it wasn’t just country boys fighting, it’s for real now,” says Davis Davis has since left the gang life and he and his childhood friend, Marcus McCall, have started Great Films. Their movie “Colors: Bangin’ in South Carolina,” premieres July 1, 2014.
