Hampton Signs With Bengals

(WOLO) — Victor Hampton will get his shot in the NFL. It just took about a month longer than he expected. More than a month after going undrafted, former Gamecock cornerback Victor Hampton signed a free agent deal with the Cincinnati Bengals Tuesday. Hampton, who decided to forego his senior season at Carolina after leading the team in solo tackles as a junior in 2014, was projected as a mid-round NFL draft pick. Multiple off-the-field concerns, including a recent arrest in Columbia after an incident with his sister and being linked to a New York City club brawl, caused most NFL teams to pass on Hampton. The Bengals, who have a history of giving players another chance after legal issues, finished behind only Seattle and Carolina in total defense in 2014, giving up an average of 305.5 yards per game.
