Two Drownings First Weekend of Summer

(WOLO) MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., — Authorities say two people drowned in Horry County over the weekend. Investigators sat 40-year-old Steve Bloomer was pulled out of the ocean unconscious by lifeguards at Myrtle Beach around 1 p.m. Saturday. He died a short time later at the hospital. On Friday, authorities say 26-year-old Kayla Simmons was found unconscious while swimming alone in a pool at an apartment complex in Conway. She was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. (Source: Associated Press)
