Downey Takes Team To Pro Am Finals

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Devan Downey is a Gamecock great. Monday night he made sure current Carolina players know that he’s still got game. Downey led his summer league team to the SC Pro Am league championship game with a win in the semifinals against a team led by incoming USC freshman point guard Marcus Stroman. The much taller Stroman contained one of the most explosive players in Gamecock basketball history pretty well. Downey scored 21 points in the game. Stroman had 19. Downey’s team, which also has rising USC freshman TeMarcus Blanton, will match up against current Gamecocks Sindarius Thornwell and Laimonas Chatkevicius in Tuesday night’s championship game at Heathwood Hall. The game starts at 7 o’clock and admission is free. Click to watch highlights of Downey and Stroman’s semifinal game from the Monday ABC Columbia News at 11.
