Richland County Deputy Facing Charges

Richland County, SC (WOLO)- A Richland County deputy is facing charges tonight… stemming from an accident that happened this past Friday. A spokesperson for the highway patrol says Corporal Ken Proffitt ran a red light in his patrol car and caused a wreck that injured a woman. Troopers say the accident occurred at the intersection of Two Notch Road and Trenholm Road. A spokesperson for The Richland County Sheriff’s Department says Proffitt was on duty at the time of the accident but not responding to a call. According to the highway patrol, this was Proffitt’s second traffic related incident since April.
