New Details in Officer Involved Shooting

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Friday, the Department of Public Safety released more information in an officer involved shooting that happened Thursday in the parking lot of a Circle K gas station on Broad River Road. Officials say Lance Corporal S.M. Groubert pulled over 35 year old Levar Edward Jones, driver of a Dodge Durango, for a a seat belt violation. During the incident, officials say, the trooper discharged his firearm. We do not know what led up to the shooting. Jones was taken to the hospital. Groubert was not injured. SLED is now investigating.
