Man shot to death in Saluda County
WARD, S.C. (AP) — Officials are investigating a shooting death in Saluda County.
Chief Deputy Chris Cockrell told local media that Cedric M. Gantt Sr. was shot and killed early Sunday after he kicked in the door of a home on state Highway 23 in Ward.
Cockrell said the homeowner was at his residence when a car of people stopped by and he let them inside. Investigators say the homeowner became involved in an argument and asked the people to leave.
Cockrell said one of the people then tried to re-enter the home and kicked in the door and the homeowner shot Gantt.
The sheriff’s office and the State Law Enforcement Division are investigating. No charges have been filed.
